The Honda e Prototype has taken inspiration from the original Honda Civic. The vehicle has been designed to have a modern-retro look, with minimal detailing across a sporty stance.
The design of the vehicle has focused on removing/hiding anything that can be - driver assistance systems are almost invisible to the eye, charging points are out of sight and the standard front grille has been replaced by a simplistic piano-black surround.
The interior has been inspired Japanese principles of architecture, with the open-plan layout reflecting 'Ma'. Natural woods and soft-touch, woollen fabrics bring further calm to the space. The driver's information display and infotainment system are displayed with clean and concise graphics, providing a natural feel.
The end product is a new aesthetic; a desirable, perfectly proportioned compact electric car that slips silently through the air and cuts a dash in the city and beyond.
Honda latest charging technology means you can charge whenever and wherever. Using AC, or alternating current, an electric car can be charged at home, using a conventional plug or dedicated charging unit. Alternatively, use one of the nationwide network of fast charging points, giving you battery 80% of capacity in just 30 minutes.
Over 200km (125 miles) per charge
The Honda e Prototype's range of over 200km is more than capable of handling everyday driving.
The vehicle has a low centre of gravity and the power goes to the rear wheels, giving an outstanding response to the road.
Other benefits of EV vehicles include:
The most obvious technological feature of the Honda e Prototype is the full-width, digital dashboard which is a hub for seamless smartphone connectivity, voice-operating systems and driving information.
The wing mirror has been completely replaced by the most sophisticated video cameras, which display the surrounding environment in greater detail to any mirror and eliminate the danger of blind spots.
Finally, there is no gearlever. Instead, buttons for drive, reverse and park.
